Find the right blush for your skin tone

Categories : Makeup

The secret to always looking fresh? Nailing the right blush for your skin tone. Once you find That Shade, you can fake a back-from-Boracay glow with just a few swishes of your brush. We looked for the best shades for meztizas, morenas and everyone in between.

Fair

Best blush for your skin tone: pale pink, light peach a touch of shimmer

If you have very fair skin, darker colors can look too orange or “clown-like” on you. Go for baby pinks or the lightest shaes of peach or berry. “It’s almost like the same color as the inside of your lip,” says makeup artist Ashleigh Ciucci.

Since light pink can fade fast, look for a cream formula, or invest in a blush that has good pigments.

Peach also complements Asians really well, because of the yellow undertones. On fair skin, peach is especially flattering if your complexion has yellow undertones. Sheer finishes are also easier to blend, so you get that “lit from within” effect.

Medium

Best blush for your skin tone: apricot, mauve, soft berry

nars blush in outlawSince you already have a lovely natural color, you don’t need a very heavy blush. You just need a hint of warm colors for a  subtle flush — like you just had a really good workout!

Avoid colors that have a cool undertone or white chalky tones. Apricot and mauve are perfect. If you want something bright, pick berry shades. Peaches work too, just go for a deeper shade.

Since you have a natural tan, bronzers with a hint of shimmer are a great alternative to the typical pinks. Apply with a fluffy brush so it doesn’t look overdone.

Deep

Best blush for your skin tone: brick/terracottas, raisin, plum, deep reds

Don’t be afraid of bold colors! They may look very intense in the pan, but once you’ve blended them in they look amazing.

Blushes for deeper skin tones tend to be pigmented already, so you just need a little bit to achieve a gorgeous glow. The secret is a good brush.  Bonus: a bit of gold shimmer or highlighter can help add “oomph”

We recommend: L’oreal Paris Visible Lift COlor Blush in Berry, Lancome Blush Subtil in Plum Noir, The Balm in Cabana.
