DIY Beauty: 5 steps to boost your hair with soft waves even when at home

Categories : Hair

Whether you’re going for an event or just wanting to look good when at home, you can opt to boost your confidence with a dreamy look. One way to do this is to learn how to get those soft, romantic curls that you’ve always found pretty with famous celebrities (like Anne Curtis and Kathryn Bernardo!) and models (like Kelsey Merritt). Getting such a hairstyle does not really take so much effort. Here, we give you the easy steps that you can follow to give your hair the gorgeous soft waves.

Step 1: Protect your hair from heat damage.

Start off with a heat damage protection spray. Spritz lightly the heat protectant to the lengths of your hair.

Beauty Insider Tip: There are a number of heat protectants available in the market, and a few good ones you can choose would be the Tresemme Styling Flat Iron Spray Keratin Smooth as well as Dove’s Smooth & Shine Heat Protect Spray. Both are proven to protect against heat damage caused by most styling tools.

Step 2: Do the curl.

After air drying or blow-drying your hair, start preparing your curling iron. Make sure your hair is totally dry before you begin curling. Once the curling has heated up you can begin to take small sections of your hair and wrap it around the iron.

Beauty Insider Tip: If you’re new to styling your hair with soft waves, then we recommend a dedicated styling tool instead of the practical two-in-one options. Here, the W Elite Smart Magic Curler which is an auto-rotating can serve your need for fine waves without much effort. The curler also gives you the option of the left and right direction for the curls.

Step 3: Wrap around outside the iron.

If you’re using a regular flat or curling iron, wrap around the outside of the iron over the iron clamp to get a more relaxed curl. Leave the tip of your hair section. Take care not to burn your skin as the curling iron can get very hot. Using a curling iron with a larger barrel will create bigger looser curls.

Step 4: Don’t worry if your hair goes in different directions.

As you go through the sections of your hair, don’t worry about wrapping each part in the same direction every time. In fact, if your hair spirals go in different directions it can look more natural and effortless.

Step 5: Finger comb your curls.

Once you’re done, comb through your hair with your fingers, loosening up the curls a little. If your hair is more resistant to curling you may want to use a hairspray to set the curl and make it last longer. With these few easy steps and the right products, you’ve just created your own gorgeous flowing curls.
